  • BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards will have a brand-new committee behind it in 2019. The team organising the 2019 Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) Awards has been unveiled. The 2019 event organised by BPS Birmingham Future, a membership organisation which connects, promotes and represents professional services in the city, will take place in May at the ICC.   • Laura Thursfield took the overall title of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) last night (Thursday 24th May) as guests from the city’s business and professional services sector attended BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards ceremony at the ICC.   • Journalist, presenter and screenwriter Rick Edwards has been announced as the host for this year’s Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards. He has recently presented a documentary on Channel 4, and will now be heading to Birmingham to reveal the winners in each of the award categories as well as crowning one individual the 18th ‘Birmingham Young Professional of the Year’. Edwards, who forged his career on the stand-up circuit, is also known for presenting BBC1’s smash daytime quiz show !mpossible, ITV2’s comedy roast Safeword, BBC Three’s live current affairs debate show Free Speech and Channel 4’s Paralympic Breakfast Show.
