  • The West Midlands Combined Authority’s Chief Executive, Deborah Cadman OBE, has chaired an esteemed panel of judges to determine winners of BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards, Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY), which is taking place on Thursday 24th May at the ICC. Seventeen impressive young professionals from across six categories were shortlisted and interviewed by the panel, with a winner chosen in each category as well as an overall winner.   • BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards reveals its 2018 organising committee and announces the date of next year’s event The committee has been revealed for the 2018 Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) Awards, taking place on Thursday 24th May at the ICC. Taking the reigns of the new line-up is former Deputy Chair and Associate Solicitor at Squire Patton Boggs, Sophie Carlile, supported by new committee member and Deputy Chair Kirn Dibra, Risk and Control Manager at Experian.   • Back in May Michael Parker was our named Birmingham Young Professional of The Year 2017 (BYPY). Since then it’s been a whirlwind two months in his new ambassadorial role. Hear his thoughts on what’s been happening.   Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 1017, Michael Parker is currently leading the national Performance Improvement service at construction consultancy Gleeds. Michael has had a significant career in the property and construction sector. After graduating from Cardiff University with a Master of Engineering degree, his career began with national housebuilder Taylor Wimpey. He has since held prominent positions with organisations including AECOM, Ernst and Young (EY), and Birmingham-based Curium Solutions. In addition to completing an MBA at Reading University, he is Lean Six Sigma certified and is a member of the Association of Project Management (MAPM).   • Michael Parker took the overall title of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) last night as guests from the city’s business and professional services sector attended BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards ceremony at the ICC. Associate Director at construction consultancy Gleeds, Michael took the title in the Property and Construction category before being crowned the overall winner at the awards, which were hosted by TV and radio presenter Colin Murray. This year’s Inspiring Leader – someone who has shown unwavering commitment to the city – was revealed as David Hardman MBE, CEO of Innovation Birmingham. The winner of the awards’ Aspiring Talent category, which recognises a stand-out individual aged between 16 and 24, was named as Sarah Fraser, Tax Consultant at Deloitte.
