  • Laura Thursfield took the overall title of Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) last night (Thursday 24th May) as guests from the city’s business and professional services sector attended BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards ceremony at the ICC. Financial Planner at Mazars LLP, Laura won the finance category before being crowned as this year’s overall Birmingham Young Professional of the Year.   • Journalist, presenter and screenwriter Rick Edwards has been announced as the host for this year’s Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards. He has recently presented a documentary on Channel 4, and will now be heading to Birmingham to reveal the winners in each of the award categories as well as crowning one individual the 18th ‘Birmingham Young Professional of the Year’. Edwards, who forged his career on the stand-up circuit, is also known for presenting BBC1’s smash daytime quiz show !mpossible, ITV2’s comedy roast Safeword, BBC Three’s live current affairs debate show Free Speech and Channel 4’s Paralympic Breakfast Show.   • The West Midlands Combined Authority’s Chief Executive, Deborah Cadman OBE, has chaired an esteemed panel of judges to determine winners of BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship awards, Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY), which is taking place on Thursday 24th May at the ICC.
