Daniel Goddard of Trowers & Hamlins LLP sits on our engage committee and was also our Aspiring Talent winner at BYPY 2018.
What is your background, and what is your current profession?
Born and raised in the West Midlands, I was the first person in my immediate family to go to University. Fast forward to 2019, I am a Solicitor in the Corporate/Commercial team at Trowers & Hamlins, Birmingham.
When and why did you join BPS Future?
I joined BPS Future when I moved to Birmingham in 2016; it’s a fantastic organisation that devotes a huge amount of time investing in the City and the professional market.
What is your favourite and most rewarding part of membership? What have you achieved as a likely result of membership?
Not only does membership allow you to develop a wide range of contacts, membership gives you access to a number of fantastic events across the City. It really is worth every penny!
Has there been a stand-out BPS Future event you attended? Why was it so good?
Last year’s session on digital infrastructure at HSBC’s new HQ was one of the best BPS Future events I have attended. It was great to understand how the growth of smart cities will impact on the day-to-day running of professional services.
What are you passionate about?
Having come from a normal working-class background, it is really important to me that we break down barriers to a career in professional services. Irrespective of your socio-economic background, there are a number of opportunities available in and around the West Midlands.
In 3 words tell us what “My Birmingham. My Future” means to you?
Being the best you (four words (but we will let that slip)).
