Update from BPS Birmingham Future Chair: Rebecca Simkiss, "There is so much to look forward to in 2016!"

News Categories: aspire

We are now well and truly settled into 2016, and I trust that you have enjoyed a busy and productive start to the year.

It may only be early February, but much has happened so far and there are already many exciting plans in place for BPS Birmingham Future this year!

January was kicked off in style by our Development Committee, giving us the opportunity to unlock the secrets of effective networking with Joel Blake, Founder of Annual Birmingham CSR Summit and Chairman of Career Academies UK (Midlands Region). These newly acquired skills were then put into practice later in the month by a new event hosted by our Membership Committee – “Would I Lie to You Speed Networking”, which resulted in some great new professional connections being made across the city, and created in lots of laughs along the way!

Our ever popular Leaders’ Lunch series also got off to a great start with our first event for the year being hosted by Graham Nicoll, Enterprise Director at KPMG, where he candidly shared his personal career journey over an exclusive private lunch for 10 Future members. With some outstanding city leaders in the diary to host Leaders’ Lunches throughout the rest of the year, make sure you keep an eye out for upcoming events in this series.

Without doubt, one of our most exciting Future events so far this year has been the official launch of BYPY 2016! At a glamorous drinks and canapé reception, 150 guests attended Hotel La Tour to mark the official launch of nominations and tickets being released on sale for the main event in May! Winners past and present, finalists and an impressive array of sponsors came together to hear plans for the big night. As one of Future’s flagship events, and without doubt the highlight of the city region’s business calendar, our BYPY Committee is sure to make this years’ event the best yet. As a former BYPY finalist myself, I know what an amazing experience being nominated can be. This city is full of talented and inspiring young professionals, so who do you know who could be our winner for BYPY16? Head to the BYPY section of our website and start nominating! Tickets are already selling fast, so download your booking form and secure your tickets and tables now to make sure that you are part of the city’s most glamorous awards night.

I look forward to seeing you there!
